Wedding Photographer Northern Ireland

I have just returned from an Irish Professional Photographers Association workshop "Develop your Online Strategy" at Kilmainham Hilton Hotel, Dublin.  

The workshop was hosted by Michelle Daly, the online communications manager for paddypower.com and owner of Sparkle Communications Consultancy, specialising in Social media.

I travelled down to the hotel yesterday, getting a little lost on the way (must update the Sat Nav!) and got an early night so I was fresh and ready for the workshop. Michelle started the seminar with this video, illustrating the importance of social media in today's world.

Facebook is leading the way with over 1 million users now registered in Ireland with over 75% actively using the site each week. Each user spends on average 32 minutes on the site over 2 visits per day - figures like that cannot be ignored!

Overall, the workshop was very interesting and I was glad I had made the effort to travel down. The discussion at lunch highlighted the differing opinions from photographers on the future of the photography industry and the role Social media will play in that.  I personally think it is very important and the feedback from my clients on the "share on social media" link within the client albums illustrates this and something I am keen to expand on in the coming months.

A special mention and thank you to Alan Murphy from the Irish Photographers Website for the lend of his o2 3G dongle as my laptop was playing up and wouldn't connect to the Hilton wireless network.
