Wedding & Portrait Photographer Northern Ireland

On the 29th January 1990, my Youth Enterprise Scheme Loan was processed and I officially became a professional photographer!
And it has been a fantastic journey - from my first regular work as a freelance photographer with the Antrim / Ballymena Guardian to the present day running a busy wedding and portrait studio with well over 1000 weddings photographed.
There has been plenty of changes in the industry during these years - some good, some not so good, but for me photography is still as exciting and rewarding as it was back in the early days.
The advent of digital photography has changed the business, giving so much more control of the final image back to the photographer. And the technology is still evolving at great pace - my first professional digital camera 9 years ago had a 2 mega pixel resolution - the same as the present Apple iPhone! It will be interesting what the next few years will bring from the camera manufactures.
The way we look at pictures has also changed - long gone are the days of waiting for your holiday snaps to come back from the chemist and taking them around family and friends - now your pictures are shared on Facebook with everybody you know with just a click of a mouse.. and with that in mind the way we display our images to our clients has also had to change, introducing web galleries for our clients to preview their pictures.
But for me, the true brilliance of photography is still in producing the finished prints and albums. Looking at images on a screen is all well and good but nothing will replace the magic of a finished album or a stunning piece of wall art, truly timeless family heirlooms.
So I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all my clients during the past 20 years, and also my family and friends for all their support down the years...
Here's to the next 20 years!
ps. I know, I know - before you say it -  I don't look old enough to have been in business for 20 years... but remember I did start very young...
